It all started when…
Eight years ago, Yoga and his world drag her deeper in the discovery on what lies underneath the self and since then Martina has never stopped researching, exploring and questioning. This brought her to dedicate into the Yoga path humbling becoming and instructor.
Martina started practicing yoga in 2011 when she first got in Australia. She has achieved 800 hrs Yoga Teacher Training (Level 1,2 and 3) and Certificate IV at YogaByron Centre under the direction of Jhon Olgive, in Byron Bay, the spiritual hub of Australia. In Dublin, she undertaken a TLC (Traditional Chinese Medicine) Yin Teacher Training with Josh Summers.
After achieved her qualification she decided to travel and experiencing the love for teaching in different location in the world. In New Zealand at Kawai Purapura Retreat Centre, at Shri Yoga in Vicenza, Italy, in Ibiza in Ibiza Yoga Retreat Centre, in Morocco (Tamarght and Taghazout) at Westsurfmorocco and LavidaSurf and recently In Holland.
Yoga has taught Martina many things, the practice itself showed her that life is a continuous transformation as an amazing process of growth. Using the discipline is an opportunity to downshift, to reconnect to the present moment and especially to be kind to herself which is what she hopes to share in her classes.
The preferred style of my teaching is a slow flow type of Vinyasa, steady but strong, in which both beginners and advanced can find physical and mental challenge respecting their own breath. The key is bringing the element of time into the practice allowing both to create their own synchronized dance, while learning or advance on poses. Essential the integration of movement and breathe, and stillness time between each posture. Allowing steadiness to be propaedeutic to find effort when necessary. I find the slow flow Vinyasa a wonderful way to discover one’s personal limitations and learn how to move past those with integrity and coherence integrating Patanjali’s eight limbs as well.
Coming from a Purna tradition (Iyengar based) her teaching style is focused on correct postural alignment with body and breath awareness, giving the opportunity to create a space for self-acceptance and at the same time the chance for students to find and explore their own edge.
Martina love to focus and structure a class towards whatever is a students or clients need and she demonstrates flexibility in teaching style which can adapt to different ages, bodies and fitness levels.
Passionate about anything related to health and wellness, she loves studying nutrition and enjoys cooking. Tireless reader and runner in her free time, she usually enjoys practicing a stronger and steady style of mindless vinyasa. She feels home wherever surrounded by the sounds of nature.
Photography has always, and will continue to be, an integral part of her private and professional life (www.martinafigoli.me). Recently Martina enrolled in a Psychology university as an integration to Yoga and self-understanding.
